From the humble beginnings of a basement-level salon, Douglas J has set the standard for salons and top-level education for stylists and estheticians both here in Michigan and nationwide.

“Douglas Weaver started in 1967, in the basement of what is now known as Pinball Pete’s in East Lansing, with four stylists, one manicurist and a receptionist,” explained Peter Eichler, Marketing Manager for Douglas J.

In the early 1970s, Weaver moved his East Lansing salon to its current location in Okemos, and began expanding the business. His wife, Sharon Weaver, pioneered top-level skin care to be offered in the salon, offering services and techniques to revolutionize skin care in the 1980s.
